BIS Industrial Services is the principal management contractor for Ineos Chlor, providing sole supply design, maintenance, turnarounds and projects up to £10M.

We provide a single interface for all work management on the site, offering the required skills, knowledge, procedures and control to deliver reliable services to the client's defined standards.

BIS-IS has taken the lead in moving cost and productivity risk to principle suppliers, and has demonstrated its ability to lead change to the benefit of Ineos Chlor with all stakeholders.

SHE MANAGEMENT

BIS-IS has been instrumental in driving through a cultural change in SHE management, which has resulted in an improved safety performance by the supplier community as a whole.  BIS-IS developed an initiative at the request of Ineos Chlor to address and turn around a deteriorating safety performance, which included:

The transfer of ownership for improving safety away from the site owner to the suppliers, allowing the site owner to focus on its own issues.

The development of a two tier safety communication and improvement system.

TIER ONE

A quarterly review of all suppliers' SHE improvement plans was chaired by BIS-IS.  These plans included spending time on site for action managment team talks, training and coaching the improvement teams, measurement of improvements and risk assessment.

TIER TWO

A working forum was established by BIS-IS for all suppliers and Ineos Chlor safety officers to share best practice and learning, and to identify safety issues and appropriate solutions.

As shown by our diagram, the initiative has reduced the number of accidents over the first twelve months, which has resulted in an improvement in the All Injury Frequency Rate.  The two tier process is ongoing and further improvements are expected.
