BIS Industrial Services Exhibits At Occupied Buildings Conference And Seminar

BIS recently attended the CIA Occupied Buildings Conference and Seminar held at the Queens Hotel, Leeds. The CIA guidance was first launched in 1999; however, the format was reviewed in 2003 and again in 2010. Therefore it was imperative for BIS to be in attendance as the guidance has now been extensively reviewed and updated and takes learning and related good practices into account.

The conference was a sell-out, attracting a number of businesses in the Chemical Engineering Industry, which included, HSE Managers, Site Managers and those responsible for the Management and Design of occupied buildings on hazardous sites. BIS attendees had the opportunity to network with a number of industry related professionals, promote our business and discuss our vast range of engineering services.

During the conference, a valued explanation around the UK regulatory requirement for demonstration of ALARP was well received.  A very useful explanation of the legal obligations for companies was given, along with the opportunity for delegates to gain a detailed insight into the guidance. In addition attendees had the opportunity to explore some case studies around which the guidance was developed, enabling possible customers to discover more about the industry that we operate in.

The conference was a huge success for BIS Industrial Services and our stand attracted a large amount of existing customers and potential clients for the future.

Paul Bennett, Account Manager for BIS at Syngenta, Huddersfield said: “The conference is a great way to meet new customers in the Yorkshire area and allow them to discover more about the numerous services BIS has to offer.”

As part of our plan to engage with new customers, BIS held a grand prize draw were conference attendees entered their business cards into the draw for the chance to win a bottle of champagne. The winner, Craig Neville from the GlaxoSmithKline Group was announced at the conference finale. Mr Neville’s colleague, Colin Johnson, accepted the prize on Craig’s behalf and said ‘Craig was delighted with the prize’. Holding the draw enabled BIS to obtain business details from potential new customers and contacts, whilst adding a little bit of fun to the occasion.
